Impatience is a Virtue!

It would be wrong of me to ramble on given the title so I’ll keep this short.

This advert is great, the phone which it advertises may well be utterly pants, but the advert itself is great! I obviously like it because it speaks to one particular aspect of my personality.. Watch, Enjoy then tell me that I’m wrong to like this advert.

It’s worth noting that while this advert is great, I won’t be buying the Samsung Jet any time soon.

Good Mood Guaranteed!

It is so very very easy to click through to video after video of Tim Michin’s material on YouTube, something I’ve been doing this very evening in fact. Well to save you the effort I’ve picked out a few of my favourites for your pleasure.

Warning! Once you watch one you’ll have to watch the rest.

Dan Gilbert on Happiness

ted_logoWhether you’re happy or depressed we all care about our own happiness. I don’t think any of us would choose not to be happy given the choice. Dan Gilbert manages to explain more about the reality of happiness than I can imagine picking up over a year, in just 22 minutes.

The first video is about Happiness in general and the second is about the decisions we make and how they affect our happiness.

Why are we Happy? Why aren’t we Happy?

On a side note; is this what passes for journalism in the US!? *shudder*. BBC, I salute you!

Story via BBC News

Top Gear truly is the king among television programmes, there’s nothing better when it comes to full on entreatment and episode 6 (season 12) from last Sunday was no exception. Upon receiving a letter complaining that the show never does practical real-world car reviews anymore Jeremy had a go at reviewing the new Ford Fiesta; check out the video below, it is fabulous!

What Looks Good? No.2

Yes Man Poster

This time we’re watching the trailers for Yes Man (2008) with Jim Carrey, Monsters vs. Aliens (2009) from Dreamworks, and Seven Pounds (2008) starring Will Smith.

Yes Man. I love Jim Carrey and this film looks like really good fun, I love the premise of the film too which I believe is based on Danny Wallace’s book.

Monsers vs. Aliens. This looks cute and funny; awesome.

Seven Pounds. I am so intrigued by this trailer; I don’t understand it but I do know that I want to see this film!

Channel Four Does Politics

Channel 4 hired an advertising company at the last general election to come up with some adverts for each party and they were great. While sorting through my movies folder just now I discovered that I actually had a copy of them each and thought I’d share, enjoy!

What Would You Wish For?

I found this marvellous video today via Caroline’s blog; it asks, with an interesting use of the English language, the question; “what would you wish to happen by the end of today?”

Its a really tough one; do you want world peace? Sure, but unless you’re the president of the USA then you can’t really achieve that in a day. This video got me thinking though, I thought to myself that maybe if I started every day with that same question and set myself the goal of achieving it what kind of difference would that make on my life? I think I might give it a go for a week at some point when I’m at uni, it’s always good to try and achieve more with your day isn’t it?

So here’s there question for you, dear reader; What do you wish to happen by the end of today?

Office Politics

If you’ve ever worked in an office you’ll know that they all have their conflicts; be it the fun-loving youths v. the old fogies, the enthusiastic hard workers v. the lethargic, the managers v. the temps, IT v. sales, or whatever. There is ALWAYS some kind of conflict bubbling under the surface and if we can’t all just get along then why not just get it out of our systems?

I poached this video (below) from Ben Millett, I think it’s an example of how these things might be better handled without the passive aggressive- behaviour, (and is it just me or does it tend to be the management who are the most passive aggressive of all?)
