24BC ’09 – Never Mind the KUBECocks Podcast

As all of you will know, this past Monday myself and Nick hosted 24-non-stop-hours of radio GOLD to raise money for charity. At the last count we had raised £1,234.18 meaning that we SMASHED all previous records so YAY for us, YAY for KUBE and YAY for everyone who donated!

But who wants a long ramble about that night eh? No.. neither do I, so here’s a 26 minute podcast of from a favourite feature of ours; Never Mind the KUBECocks. We were past 9 hours into the show by this point.. enjoy!

Post Grad Movie – Depressingly Apt?

Before you watch this trailer I want to remove any pre-conceptions that just because I’ve blogged it that this film might be any good; it looks exceptionally average. Having said that, watching the start of the trailer in which a girl graduates from university and finds herself unable to find a job and everything seems to go wrong.. yeah.. good old reality!

As a third-year under-grad who’s just taken his final exam and is in the midst of a 10,000-12,000 word dissertation, the day of graduation is looming and the glorious state of our current economic climate does not bode well in terms of employment for someone with half a degree in Marketing and the other in American Studies. Am I really meant to put my career on hold because the banks have been playing with crystal balls and monopoly money? Maybe my university will decide that Keele needs to employ someone to run KUBE as Station Manager alongside the KUBE President.. I dare to dream.

Kate VHB Joins Flickr

Kate is one of these rarely talented people who can do just about anything she puts her mind to; lately she’s taken to photography and the shots she’s taking are gorgeous! She’s just started a Flickr account which is filling up with some fantastic shots! I’m completely in love with the shot below, if you want to see more then check her out on flickr and for more great shots check out some of my favourites.

Meet the Parents

At this moment in time I’m sitting in the KUBE Studio hosting The Awkward Turtle Show (Saturdays 4PM-6PM GMT) and we’ve been talking about awkward moments with your girlfriend/boyfriend’s parents; I just had to share this XKCD comic with our audience!

NB. I know this has appeared on my old blog before but talking about it I just had to share it for anyone who might have missed it the first time around.

My Ego is the Best Ego!

It’s been a long, long time.. well.. a summer, but finally we’re back on air! Woopie! The Nat & Georgie Show! (NAGS) is back! On Tuesday we finally got back into the studio to do a proper show on KUBE Radio (thanks to Neb‘s tireless efforts getting the studio back online) and man, it was a lot of fun!

We’ve got a new time too; we’re now on Tuesdays from 8PM (until 10PM) which will hopefully prove to be a more friendly time for our listeners. We’ve got a slightly revamped cast too; last year we started with Nat, Cat, Hayley, Ollie and Myself. Since then Hayley and Ollie have stepped down as permanent cast members and Nick has joined us which gives the show a really nice dynamic.

I won’t go on too much about NAGS since you probably already know all about it, and if you don’t then there’s NAGShow.com or the facebook group.

I do have some SUPER exciting news too; Squink! has designed us an incredible new logo (right), we’ve been working on it over the last month or so and two days ago it was finally finished and we took it live. I am SO happy with it, despite my irritating requests for the most minute alterations he’s put up with my demands and done us proud! He’s such a talented designer, we’re so lucky that he wanted to work with us on this project. He also writes a fantastic blog which is well worth giving a read.

As for my ego, well; I’ll admit, I’m a little bit egotistical at times and over the past couple of week’s I’ve spent at least 12 hours on air at KUBE, guest hosting various shows. It’s been SUPER fun and as a consequence of co-hosting The Awkward Turtle Show with Kate Vanhinsbergh over the last two weeks, she asked me to become her official co-host which I’m really chuffed about. This means you can now hear me on Tuesdays from 8PM on NAGS and then Saturdays from 4PM on The Awkward Turtle Show; put that in your calendar!
