Fold Your Own Obama

Obama Cube

The world has been struck by Obama-fever (myself and My Bloggywog are no exception); I stumbled across this great template on digg last night and now, after an hour or so of careful cutting, folding and slotting together, I have myself a mini-Obama!

There are loads of these on Cubeecraft.com and I’m more than a little tempted to have a go at the joker next! You can download the Obama template here.

A quick tip; if you do have the option of thicker paper then use it; I used the paper that was already in my printer and it’s a little flimsy.

Happy folding!

Official Portrait of Obama Released

George W. Bush Official PortraitWhile we still have a handful of days until Obama’s inauguration (also Grandma‘s birthday) on January 20th and the President-elect’s office has released his new official portrait. As the first presidential portrait taken with a digital camera and the meta-data embedded in the photo we can see that it was taken with a with a Canon EOS 5D Mark II on January 13th, 2009 at 5:38 pm with no flash, using a 105mm lens stopped to f/10 at a 1/125 exposure, with an ISO of 100 by newly crowned official White House photographer Pete Souza (via). Photo geeks will be very exited about that information and for everyone else; it’s a nice photo isn’t it (below)? Better than the official photo for George W. Bush (right) at the very least!

Shoes Hurled at George W. Bush

I know this isn’t funny.. but, well it is isn’t it?

On a side note; is this what passes for journalism in the US!? *shudder*. BBC, I salute you!

FT VAT Brown

I’m currently watching the Pre-Budget report on the BBC News website and Alistair Darling has announced that VAT will be cut from 17.5% to 15% starting on Monday until 2010. Government borrowing will rise to £78bn this year and £118bn next year saying that/ doing nothing would create a “deeper and longer recession”.

I’m sure this is great for the shops; I’m sure that £9.99 DVD isn’t going to go down to £9.74 so their profits just go up by 2.5% hooray for shops! On the bright side though, the price of jaffa cakes isn’t going to change since they’re not charged VAT in the first place, being cakes and all.

The real question is; are you going to spend, spend, spend? Go on.. buy the new MacBook Pro; it’ll save the economy.. and you’ll save 2.5% :P

Channel Four Does Politics

Channel 4 hired an advertising company at the last general election to come up with some adverts for each party and they were great. While sorting through my movies folder just now I discovered that I actually had a copy of them each and thought I’d share, enjoy!

Dear John

I saw my chance to rearrange the books in W.H.Smiths and I took it! Much more appropriate setting for John Prescott’s Autobiography I think you’ll agree.
